bio pictureJacqueline Smith began her art career in ceramics, but a course in Japanese Brush Painting evoked the desire to explore painting, and since that time there has been no turning back.

Born in Winnipeg and raised "all across the country" she spent many years in California, but recently returned to Vancouver Island to paint full time.

Jacqueline has had individual and group shows and received awards in California and in Federation of Canadian Artists juried shows both on the island and in Vancouver.

She is a Signature Member of the Gold Coast Watercolour Society in California and an active member of Watercolor West as well as the Federation of Canadian Artists, both the Arrowsmith Chapter and the Vancouver primary group. She has paintings in collections in California, Georgia, France and Canada.

Jacqueline studied art at Ventura College in California and has studied with many prominent Canadian and American artists.

"I paint for the sheer joy of it. Some visual delights will not leave me alone until I put paint to paper. It thrills and lifts my spirit. If I contribute to the Joy or Peace in anyone else, then I am sucessful".
